Midwifery Pathways

Eastern Health offers you two pathways to experience a Transition to Practice Midwifery Program. Read below about options to start your career with us!

Pathways Overview

Pure Midwifery Pathway 

This pathway provides you, as a graduate midwife with clinical experience across the full scope of practice in midwifery. A range of opportunities are available for you in areas such as Birth Suite, Post Natal, Special Care Nursery, Fetal Monitoring Unit, Extended Post Natal Care, Lactation Services, and Antenatal Clinic.

Blended Midwifery/Nursing Pathway 

This pathway is available you if you have studied a double degree in Nursing and Midwifery. The program is 18-months in duration and provides opportunities in the same midwifery areas as experienced in the Pure Midwifery pathway, plus a 6-months nursing rotation.
