Can I request my rotation preference?
Yes, when you are successful in obtaining a position in our program, we send you a survey to select your preferences for areas for your rotations and intakes.
Blended Midwifery Graduates, if you select Special Care Nursery (SCN) as a preference for your nursing rotation, we will ask why you want to work in SCN and how this rotation will enhance your skills?
All successful applicants are employed by Eastern Health so you may be allocated to any one of our sites. Whilst we cannot guarantee sites, areas or intake, we certainly take into consideration your preferences and residential location.
How many supernumerary days will I receive?
As a guide, three supernumerary days are offered upon commencement of employment in addition to an orientation program. Supernumerary days will vary depending on rotation with some areas offering up to 10 days of supernumerary time. We will work with you closely to ensure that you are well supported throughout this time.
General pathway
- Rotation 1: You will receive 3 supernumerary days.
- Rotation 2: You will receive 2-3 supernumerary days to support your transition to a new clinical area.
Pure Mental Health pathway
- All rotations receive 4 supernumerary days.
- You will receive 1 extra supernumerary day for your first time working in an Intensive Care Area (ICA).
Blended Mental Health pathway
- Mental Health rotation: You will receive 4 supernumerary days, plus 1 extra supernumerary day for your first time working in an Intensive Care Area (ICA).
- General Nursing rotation: You will receive 3 supernumerary days to support your transition to the new clinical area.
How do I apply?
As a public health service, Eastern Health participates in the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) Graduate Nursing and Midwifery Program match.
Applying is a two-step process.

Yes, international students (Victorian or Australian trained) can apply for a position in any of our pathways.
Please ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria as outlined by PMCV.
